Here is a list of resources to contact for healthcare assistance.

Georgia Volunteer Health Care Program (GVDP) is managed by the Department of Community Health of Georgia (www.dch.ga.gov) to provide uninsured Georgians with health care when the family income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.  These clinics are staffed with medical professionals who volunteer their services and provide a need in the community and provide medical, dental, and vision services.  These sites are located around the state.

Public Health Office
in your county.   Georgia has 18 Public Health Districts and some assistance can be found in each one.  The care is also income based and services are usually provided on a sliding scale fee schedule.  Medical and dental assistance is available.

The Georgia Free Clinic Network
provides a support system for the medically underserved.

Hill-Burton Program
is a federal program that assists people with low income and no insurance.  This is not as wide spread as the others listed.  Medical assistance is available.

In other parts of Georgia, call the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) or another DSH (Disproportionate Share Hospital) for assistance.  MCG may take patients from other parts of the state.  DSH hospitals treat a disproportionate share of Medicaid and indigent patients.

Grady Health Systems is over 100 years old and was created to serve the needs of the poor and near poor.  In addition to indigent primary care and hospital care, Grady has community wellness and educational outreach programs.  Patients are the needy  from Dekalb and Fulton counties.  Medical assistance is available.

The Good Samaritan Healthcare
is a faith based initiative that opened over 10 years ago to serve Atlanta’s neediest residents.  Medical, dental, and vision assistance is available.

Georgia Partnership for Caring Foundation
is a network of health care providers who donate their time and services.  It is a private, nonprofit organization and is not a part of Medicaid or any government program.  Medical, dental, and prescription assistance is available.

Many of the Dental Hygiene Schools
around Georgia offer reduced cleanings and x-rays for their communities.  Since it is in a teaching environment, the process takes longer than at a dental office.  There is usually a small fee (under $25) charged.
